<\n\n\n\n
I sometimes feel like an alien creature
\n\tfor which there is no earthly explanation
\n\tSure I have human form
\n\twalking erect and opposing digits,
\n\tbut my mind is upside down.
\n\tI feel like a run-on sentence
\n\tin a punctuation crazy world.
\n\tAnd I see the world around me
\n\tlike a mad collective dream.
\n\tAn endless stream of people
\n\tmove like ants from the freeway
\n\tcell phones, pc's, and digital displays
\n\t"In Money We Trust,"
\n\twe'll find happiness
\n\tthe prevailing attitude;
\n\tlike a genetically modified irradiated Big Mac
\n\tis somehow symbolic of food.
\n\tMorality is legislated
\n\tprisons over-populated
\n\treligion is incorporated
\n\tthe profit-motive has permeated all activity
\n\twe pay our government to let us park on the street
\n\tAnd war is the biggest money-maker of all
\n\twe all know missile envy only comes from being small.
\n\tPoliticians and prostitutes
\n\tare comfortable together
\n\tI wonder if they talk about the strange change in the weather.
\n\tThis government was founded by, of, and for the people
\n\tbut everybody feels it
\n\tlike a giant open sore
\n\tthey don't represent us anymore
\n\tAnd blaming the President for the country's woes
\n\tis like yelling at a puppet
\n\tfor the way it sings
\n\tWho's the man behind the curtain pulling the strings?
\n\tA billion people sitting watching their TV
\n\tin the room that they call living
\n\tbut as for me
\n\tI see living as loving
\n\tand since there is no loving room
\n\tI sit on the grass under a tree
\n\tdreaming of the way things used to be
\n\tPre-Industrial Revolution
\n\twhich of course is before the rivers and oceans, and skies were polluted
\n\tbefore Parkinson's, and mad cows
\n\tand all the convoluted cacophony of bad ideas
\n\tlike skyscrapers, and tree paper, and earth rapers
\n\tlike Monsanto and Dupont had their way
\n\tas they continue to today.
\n\tThis was Pre-us
\n\tback when the buffalo roamed
\n\tand the Indian's home
\n\twas the forest, and God was nature
\n\tand heaven was here and now
\n\tCan you imagine clean water, food, and air
\n\tliving in community with animals and people who care?
\n\tDo you dare to feel responsible for every dollar you lay down
\n\tare you going to make the rich man richer
\n\tor are you going to stand your ground
\n\tYou say you want a revolution
\n\ta communal evolution
\n\tto be a part of the solution
\n\tmaybe I'll be seeing you around.<\/p>\n
