{"id":1886,"date":"2013-03-20T10:22:40","date_gmt":"2013-03-20T14:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hookedonraw.com\/?page_id=1886"},"modified":"2014-07-28T14:57:20","modified_gmt":"2014-07-28T18:57:20","slug":"ottowa-strives-to-be-pesticide-free-by-2003","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hookedonraw.com\/?page_id=1886","title":{"rendered":"Ottowa Strives To Be Pesticide Free by 2003"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\n\n\n\n<p>Ottawa Sun<br \/>\n\tSeptember 20, 2002<\/p>\n<p>\t<strong>Pesticides Linked To Cancer In Kids<\/strong><br \/>\n\tBy ANDREA LANTHIER<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThere might be no indisputable evidence on the health dangers of pesticides, but that doesn&#39;t mean Ottawa should ignore the warning signs, the city&#39;s top pediatrician said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\t&quot;Most of the very important research is looking at various forms of childhood cancer and pesticide use.&quot; said Dr. Joseph Reisman, chairman of pediatrics at CHEO. &quot;There seems to be a link and this evidence is building.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>\tReisman joined fellow members of the Coalition for a Healthy Ottawa to kick-start the &quot;Pesticide Free by 2003&quot; campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe campaign begins with a rally this weekend to promote the upcoming debate on a citywide pesticide ban &#8212; including use on private property.<\/p>\n<p>\tCouncil is expected to vote on a ban at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\t&quot;We are looking for a ban by 2003 for several reasons.
