I am trying to get further information on distilled water. I have had a distiller in my home for 20 years and it broke down and it was not able to be fixed. In reading information on the internet, I discovered an article by Dr. Zoltan Rona who claims, early death from drinking distilled water and in his list of references refers to Dr. Theodore Baroody. I recently obtained Dr. Baroody’s book, Alkalize or Die to discover that he highly recommends distilled water. After reading chapter 14, I don’t understand why Dr. Rona would lay claim to an early death by drinking distilled water.

Baroody talks about the myths of distilled water and says, “Even though most distilled water tests acidic, critics of distilled water must understand that because of its negative change, a more alkaline internal environment is created in the body when imbibed.

Dear Nancy,

I don't know if distilled water causes an early death. I'd have to hear what Dr. Rona's reasons are for saying that.

Here's what I believe.

The kind of waters that we are meant to drink are either rainwater, spring water, artesian water or glacial water.

Rainwater today is ruined for drinking use because human activity on the planet has made rainwater acid. Acid rain is ruining our forests. I live near a forest that shows the effects of acid rain. However, artesian water is rain water that is filtered through lava and/or other rocks and regains it's purity. Volvic water is artesian water which has a pH of 7.

Spring water purity depends on location and whether the source has been contaminated. Glacial water is the kind of water that was used by the Hunza's (famous for excellent health and longevity) for both drinking and to water their crops. Glacial water has a lot of minerals and is opaque rather than clear.

Spring, artesian, and glacial waters when clean, make frozen crystals that when photographed are beautifully structured, but when polluted, lose their structure. A lot of work has been done on this by Masaru Emoto. He also has several books out, one of which is called Messages from Water.

And which brings me to why I don't favor distilled water. Frozen water crystals from distilled water when photographed do not have any structure. It is a dead water. Some people say you can re-create some structure by adding some minerals or oxygen to it, etc. Distilled water also does not filter out all the impurities. There are some kinds of impurities that are transferred in the steam. Distilled water has no minerals in it. Some teachers say you can get all the minerals from your food, but we know that most of our soils are deficient in minerals. Soils which are organically managed have a better mineral assay.

What kind of water to drink today is not an easy issue to resolve. Since we have polluted many of our natural sources of water we must rely on extensive filters for bringing the water back to something that is safe to drink.

I would favor a good filtered water over distilled water. I also try to drink the water from green water coconuts each week when I can get them here in NY.

With blessings and peace,

Rhio

Thank you for your response.

Nan
