Rhio, author, gourmet chef and one of the pioneers of the raw food movement, has sent me a copy of her new DVD, which I watched with great pleasure. In her unique playful manner, Rhio demonstrates preparing raw food dishes from her own cuisine. I find her recipes to be quite different from any others I’ve seen, and I have learned a few tips from this video. Being a raw food leader for at least twenty years, Rhio is as youthful and pretty as ever. She sings cute romantic songs throughout the video, making it fun to watch.

Rhio, last night we started watching your DVD!!! It’s fabulous!!!! I love how playful, yet very professional it is! It’s fantastic!!!! The quality is great. We didn’t watch the entire DVD, yet, because we ran out of time (it was late and I needed to get some rest). We did, however, watch through the part about the bagels. It was absolutely adorable with you and Leigh there. We all enjoyed it and missed you both, wishing you were still here visiting!
We’re going to watch the rest of it this evening. It’s wonderful!!!

Querida Rhio,
Thanks so much for the wonderful newsletter and that great party, almost a month ago. If there were an Academy Award for raw foodists, you’d be the first winner.
I wanted to bring the following news to your attention in case you haven’t already heard about it. I copied the following article from Denise Mari’s newsletter. This is a case for you and Karen’s activist org.

When will your DVD be available? The clips on You Tube are great. Most raw DVDs show things I already know how to make. I loved your clear presentation of the yogurt.
Your skin is great. Do you do something special or are you just lucky?

Hey Rhio
Love your site. It really helped me to transition and find resources on my raw journey. I saw your video on making raw yogurat and I was trying to find the lady you referred to. I think you said her name was valla or something. Does she have a website or web presense? Also I can’t find your directory of all the raw food pioneers. I was wondering if you took it off your site? Once again thanks so much for being a raw food pioneer and bringing awareness to health.
Very sincerely,

Thanks for all the work you are doing to spread the life! Brian Connolly and I worked with you at Csilla Jacobson’s event in Jamaica. We would love it and really appreciate it if you could help us out by sending word around about fellow colleague Gabriel’s new book: there is a Cure for Diabetes, and lecture series to your database. Thank you Rhio for being a source of light and for spreading the raw/living foods word. Best wishes for a prosperous and abundant New Year! P.S. The Before and After pictures on your website are fantastic!

Hi Rhio,
You may remember me, I had ordered a few of Jackie Graff’s books and you were very helpful in getting me all 4 that I ordered. I really appreciated your gift that you sent me. It was The Best of Rhio Sampler. I really enjoyed the first 4 songs “Where’s all the Protein” etcd. and on the CD it says they are from the Time To Start Believing Again album, I’m wondering where I can see what other songs are on this album and how I could purchase it?
I was unable to see this on your website, it may be there, but I didn’t find it!
I thought these songs were very catchy and actually very factual, so fun to play and listen to in order to learn and confirm how I also eat.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Blessings,
Beth
Dear Beth,
The Album is not out yet, that is why you couldn’t find it. I hope to have it completed and out next year.

Hi Rhio,
I’m sorry that I’ve taken so long to get the shampoo recipe to you. I’m still working on perfecting it for my own hair (original recipe had some serious flaws in it), but will send it soon. Now a testimony for you…
I am the only 100% raw fooder in my family. The rest of my family eats a lot of raw food, but none of that ‘strange’ stuff (anything other than salad, that is). However, when I made your lasagna (with sunflower cheese sauce substituted for Almond Ricotta), they were shocked. Not only did raw suddenly become delicious, but zucchini (which none of them like), at that. I now make it regularly, either with eggplant or zucchini or both. They all have at least one large piece each meal. Today, I made Mexican Lasagna by adding corn and changing the seasonings. I served it with avocado cubes and chopped cilantro. Guacamole could replace the avocado cubes, but we were too eager to eat it before we got that far. Sour cream would be a great accompaniment, too. Of course, you could add olives to this, too. At any rate, lasagna has opened all their eyes to the possibilities of raw. Thank you once again for your cookbook. Your work is so greatly appreciated!

Hi Rhio,
Today I received the book you sent. It is wonderful, and I can’t thank you enough! My son is whipping up the Creamy French Avocado Dressing as I type. The information and recipes (and pictures, too!) that you’ve presented are amazing. The chapter on kitchen cosmetics is greatly appreciated, also. I am currently using a homemade shampoo with great success and had often wondered how I could find other homemade cosmetic recipes. I know that others will enjoy your book as much as I, and I will loan it to anyone with an interest in health. May God bless your work as you seek to teach others how to care for these beautiful bodies that He has given.

Hi Rhio.
I have been a Raw Fooder for the past Ten months. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on and hooked on raw is included. I had several health issues, was on blood thinners, cholesterol 314, blood pressure high 140ies, had just had blood cloths in my lungs. I was listening to KPFT one day and heard John Rose talk about what Raw food could for you so I called. We got together and he suggested a few program, I chose Juice Feasting for three months. After the first month the Dr. took me off the blood thinners, two months later checked my blood, my cholesterol was 170, blood pressure 106, pulse from high 70ies to 63, and lost 50 Lbs, wow that was great. I am now 100% Rawfooder and feel great. I was listening to your raw summit talk and do believe that something has to be done about protecting out rights to chose, and also parents rights to chose for their children. we have lost so many rights as of now that it is going to take people who believe as we do to get together and make some changes. I know several people in the Houston area and also the people who get together at our raw food potluck that we can get together and get something done. I have helped several people regain their health by going Raw and feel real good about it. Two of these people where diabetic one of which was on cholesterol pills and insulin he is now only on diabetic pills and no more cholesterol pills and doing fine the other she is no longer on diabetic pills and their blood sugar are normal. Well if there anything I can do to help in our quest to get our rights back let me know.
Sincerely,
Joseph
PS Your doing a great job keep it up.

I enjoyed your raw summit input. One thing I wanted to share about the GMO seeds. I think these seeds can only be planted once, after that they wont reproduce the true parent plant sooo If we don’t save our seeds we could end up dependant from year to year on those that have GMO seeds. That spells CONTROL to me. Thank you for your wonderful work.

Kandie
Dear Kandie,
Thanks for letting me know that you enjoyed the interview.
The type of genetically engineered seeds that you are talking about have been dubbed “terminator” because they have been genetically engineered to self destruct (commit suicide) after one planting. This is completely opposite to what Nature does with her seeds which she shares openly, freely and prolifically.
The “terminators”, however, have not been approved for use because even the government realizes that if these plants were to pass on this terminator trait to wild plants or cousin plants, then we may wipe out complete plant families.
The Monsanto’s of the world don’t need the “terminators” though to prevent farmers from saving their seeds. They have this provision written into their contract with the farmers who use their mutant seeds.
All in all it is an extremely dangerous and unfair situation with GE seeds which should only be grown, if at all, in enclosed biospheres so that they cannot contaminate the rest of the countryside.
With blessings and peace,
Rhio

My Dearest Rhio,
I have been rehearsing a gratitude letter to your and Leigh in my mind for a few days, but just couldn’t get my fingers to the keyboard.
I did have a very lovely time on the farm, I will admit that I need to improve my farming skills, but I did the best I could, albeit the heat and dexterity required were challenges.
I have been sharing with everyone what a great experience I had and what a wonderful couple/unit you, Leigh and Sean are.
I have been eating raw mostly since that past weekend, and am very interested in the Raw Lifestyle, I think honestly in the summer heat its a better way for me to eat.
If you guys need any help with any of your projects….keep me in the loop.
Sincerely and Thank you,

Hello Rhio,
I learned about the raw food diet through your website. I enjoyed studying your vast collection of articles about “raw food concepts.” I don’t see how you had the time to aggregate such a large collection of information on your website. I don’t know the first thing about websites, so I don’t know what exactly the procedure is, but you’ve done some great work.
Also, I thought I’d share a link with you related to raw foods. I recently bought a gift for my girlfriend for our anniversary. Have you ever seen a
fruit basket? I haven’t until I ordered this thing called a “fruitful affair.” The website is The Fruit Company at www.thefruitcompany.com. Just
thought I’d run it by you because I was satisfied with the delivery and quality. I’ve never seen such beautiful food before; it was truly a guilt-trip eating from it.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that your website is awesome and keep up the good work.

Hi,
Last year I spent some time with John Fielder at his Health Academy in Mareeba, North Queensland. John introduced me to your recipie book “Hooked on Raw” and this has been a great help to me in my journey to learn how to enjoy a raw food diet. Consequently, I am keen to buy this book for all members of my family so they can discover the benefits of the raw food diet themselves. To do this I will need to order 10 copies of ‘Hooked on Raw:. Are you able to offer discount for such a quantity?
I would appreciate it if you could also advise what the shipping costs would total to Townsville, North Queensland, Australia.
Thank you for your assistance.

Subject: hi Rhio…i love what your all about…and you live in NY to boot!
yes…your a rare bird 4 sure here in new york. i stumbled upon your website just looking up raw food information. so..i fell into your web and i am sure glad i did. i have been a vegetarian for over 10 years and have recently become raw. i am having a fine time with it since i am a MASTER at making salads. i also bought myself a vita mix so i am ingesting more fresh fruit than i have in my entire life pretty much. my question that i would love it if you could answer is….will you marry me. haha! no…seriously…you are beautiful…but i live on long island so you prob would never go for a guy like i(5’5″ Caucasian guitar player with own music studio..haha). seriously though…my real question to you is…beans. i seem to miss beans. is there any beans i CAN eat uncooked with my salads? i have heard the fava beans can be eaten raw in their young stage. but to be honest…i am not even sure where to get fava beans…my local health food stores dont seem to have them( Jandis and living naturally…both in nassau county long island) and i do not see these in regular super markets as well. can soy beans be eaten raw? i realize that green beans can be eaten raw…but i kinda dont like them…and i dont consider them true beans anyway. I do eat an avocado with every salad i eat now…but i just wish i could eat regular beans again. is there a way to make this happen Rhio? hope so. thanks SO much for your time…and if your ever in my neck of the woods…feel free to contact me with anything i may be of service to you with. thanks again.

Subject: Latest Projects?
Hi Rhio!
After 3 years all raw, begin in part with your book (and Alissa Cohen’s), I’ve just got around to more thoroughly exploring your website. There’s such a rich source of raw resources, restaurants, and now-fast friends here in Southern California that the web resources have received short shrift from me once I got the major lifestyle changes established. This isn’t to imply that I haven’t grown, changed, evolved … and continue to (!!) … as I keep walking this amazing path of physical, emotional and spiritual change.
Anyway!!!
I’m writing you specifically to ask about the Rejuvenation Project. Since it’s still on the mainpage, I was hoping that there would be an update — like how many years would you say you knocked off at the end of that year — how does one measure that, anyway (said with a smile, of course)?
I’m sending a separate email to begin subscribing to the Hotline … as I find your focus, interests, and beliefs quite similar to mine. Attending Agape out here (Dr. Michael Beckwith’s center), I’m naturally open to the Abraham-Hicks quotes in your last newsletter … and am uplifted and motivated whenever I take a class with him or any of the other healers, teachers, and leaders like Louise Hay, Brandon Bays, and others. So, I’m looking forward to reading your musings and opinions sent all the way from the other coast.
In raw radiance,
Diana
www.rawteacher.com/dianaharrelson
Dear Diana,
Thank you for your kind words about my website and hotline.
I had to let go of reporting on the Rejuvenation Project because my own efforts to recoup my health (and that of my family members) after suffering the effects of the 9/11 pollution became intense. It was a struggle to rebound and it didn’t leave me much time for the project, but I will be writing about it in my next book. I would say I’m 95% back to pre 9/11 health status. I don’t know if I knocked any years off but I do feel very well and all my symptoms from 9/11 are gone. I do feel my lungs are not as strong as before, but still working on that.
You can check out my latest project – a video series currently in production – called “What’s NOT Cookin’ in Rhio’s Kitchen” – sample on home page of my website. You would need Quicktime.
Are you listed as a raw food teacher on my Directory for raw teachers? If not, send me all your info and I’ll list you.
With blessings and peace,
Rhio

I so enjoyed your talk on Saturday at Karen Ranzi’s house. It was one of the best I have heard. It is important that we stop what is going on in the food science world and what these corporations are trying to do. We must all start spreading this information. So glad to hear this different topic because sometimes it is tiring to hear the same old speech about eating raw foods, etc. from all the raw food speakers. We all know what to do, we just have to do it.

Dear Rhio,
We all loved your presentation yesterday. Gabriela was saying how much she learned from you, and her girlfriend Margo is asking so many questions and is also interested in turning to the raw food diet. I think that this will inspire Gabriela to return to raw foods as well. These teenagers are so much more aware now of what is really happening with genetically engineered foods, and since they are motivated toward helping the environment, I think that this information will be a great incentive.
I actually had 2 emails that came in later in the day from people who wanted to find out if they could still make the talk. I had checked the emails earlier but later had no more time to check the computer, so unfortunately those people missed your talk. They had the phone number but didn’t call. I would love to have you out here again and promote your talk as a raw foods talk, and then integrate a lot of your genetically engineered information into it, if that works for you. I know how passionate you are about the situation with GMO’s, but I want to have a huge crowd hear it. Maybe we can set up something for end of winter or early spring?
Anyway, I will definitely be at your Thanksgiving Party. Harvey thinks he has a client in the beginning of that week and so is not sure yet if he can come, but I will be there so please add me to your list.
Thank you so much again, Rhio, for your wonderful and passionate presentation on Genetically Engineered Foods, and also for the great performances that you and Leigh gave. And it was so much fun to hang out together afterward!
Looking forward to seeing you again soon,
Love Karen

Greetings & Good Fortune:
I love your work. The raw foods community is really special. I’m just starting to realize how much so. I’ve spent a few years dabbling in a 60-80% raw lifestyle but have finally gone fully raw and am amazed at the results – I gather it is only the beginning for me. Big praises and gratitude to you for perpetuating this life-changing, spiritualizing lifestyle.
I met Josh Steinhauser a few years ago at an Omega conference in Florida, and it was instantaneously clear to me that I was interacting with a far from ordinary human. The seeds he planted in me are a big part of what’s enabled massive waves of change in my life. I have a phone number for his store in Florida but that hasn’t been very successful. It’s very important to me that I get in contact with him and I was wondering if you would be able to help me. I’m sure he’s extraordinarily busy these days, as I’m sure that you are, but I feel that it has a larger significance. I’m trying to interface with different parts of this community and get involved in deeper ways. I’m looking for mentors in my life, and believe that I am becoming someone that it would be very worthwhile to invest a little time in.
Thanks for your time – would love to hear what you’re up to, if you had a nano-second to share. You know how it is, the faster you go, time slows down.
Big Love

Dear Rhio,
You’re a terrific singer – wonderful intonation (the first thing a composer hears) and excellent diction. I remember the first time I heard the great baritone Thomas Hampson sing a song of mine (set to a Walt Whitman poem). I was stunned at the clarity of his diction — I could hear every word. Well, you do that, too. I was especially moved by your performance of a song about “Don’t send me flowers — they die.” It was very moving.
All best,

Dear Rhio,
I am writing to you because I respect and admire all that you have contributed to the raw foods movement. I look to you as someone who stands for only the highest and the best in your food and products. I was recently turned on to the product Natural Cellular Defense by Dr. Cousens, and I wanted to let you know about it because I feel that it is among the best of the best. I’ve attached a couple documents with information, the first is an in-depth review by Dr. Cousens, and the other is a summary with key points to the product. If you are interested let’s set up a call to talk further. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for all that you do (you are one of the influences that inspired me to become a raw chef!!).

Greetings, Rhio,
Just want to take a bit of your busy time to let you know how much I enjoy the cracker/pizza crust recipe I found recently on your website. It really filled a need I had as I have difficulty digesting sprouted buckwheat groats, and am gluten intolerant. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe.
Is there any news on the outcome of the couple in Florida that was being prosecuted for living the raw food lifestyle, and their children had been taken away from them. The last I heard was sentencing was due in December, and hopefully, they didn’t have to be imprisoned. Any word that you can share with me?
I’m looking forward to seeing your new book out this year. Thanks for all you do to help people like me. I really appreciate it.

Dear Lynne,
Thank you for the kind words. I’m so glad that recipe worked for you. I love it too, and it is sooo easy to make.
Because I got involved in an internet radio station and am in the process of producing 3 raw food preparation videos/dvds, and other varied projects, my second book is delayed and won’t be out this year, but hopefully next year. Hold the thought!
I sent a reply to someone else who inquired about the Andressohn case so I’m sending you a copy of my response to them (see below.) I will also be interviewing the Andressohn’s for my internet radio show soon. Watch for it at: www.TribecaRadio.net
Thank you for your interest and concern for the Andressohn’s.
With blessings and peace,
Rhio
Dear Dwight,
The Andressohn’s were acquitted of any wrongdoing in the death of their daughter, Woyah, but were convicted of negligence in the care of their other children.
They were spared serving any more jail time, but are under 15 years probation and there are some other draconian rules that they have to follow, such as they have to get their children vaccinated and they have to send their children to public school and can no longer home school them and the diet for the children has to be approved by a nutritionist (this last one is ok with me as long as it is a knowledgeable nutritionist)
They are allowed to see their children regularly now, and will be able to get the family back together soon. They are following all of the parameters set by the family court (not the criminal court) to get their children back. As far as the criminal case is concerned, they are planning an appeal because their children were not neglected nor were they undernourished in any way and in the family court it was established, through tests, that the children were not malnourished, although they were underweight by US standards but the mother is Jamaican and very small at a size 1, so it is only logical that her children would be a little smaller than the average American child. The children were not hungry. Don’t forget that young children are impressionable and vulnerable to manipulation and the defense had no access whatsoever to the children BUT the prosecution did have access. Does that seem fair? I believe the children were manipulated to say they were always hungry. One of the children did overeat on nuts and then would get constipated so for that child they did ration out the nuts a bit, but the children definitely had enough food. For more information on the evolution of the case and to see pictures of the children as contrasted against truly starving children, go to my website and click on the link on first page that says Andressohn Family. The whole story is there, except the part that I’ve just told you which hasn’t been posted there yet.
The Andressohn’s have been financially devastated and if you have any spare bucks, please send it their way. They were thrown out of their home and are in debt.
I will be doing a radio show with the Andressohn’s soon so keep posted at: www.TribecaRadio.net
for the upcoming show.
Thank you for your interest.
With blessings and peace,
Rhio
